Romanticism |
Romanticism is in a way a contract to beauty, harmony and attraction. Romanticism tried to refer to something larger and worldly, showing the dignity of the individual existing on the bands of society.
Jean Louis David - Neoclassical art leading into Romanticism.
Romanticism is more of a personal response of what was happening at the time. Expressing the individual's own feeling, along with motion and passion.
The heroic individual and movements between the events of the person and the motion of the horse.
THE RAFT OF THE MEDUSA
This is the depiction of how Medusa - A french warship that fought in the Napoleonic wars. Its the depiction of the battles it had fought and lying on the sand banks you see how broken and used up it was. Along with the amount of death the scene intakes, lying dead corpses etc...
I quite like how intense this scene was portraying, the gore and still death. The piles of bodies shows the real humanity of the scene. Creating a like human landscape with the layers of bodies on top of each other.
