Today we are learning about Cover Letters and what/how goes into a Cover Letter along with getting a LinkedIn set up...
What is in a cover letter?
- Time consuming.
- Lead into CV.
- Communication skills.
- Abstract-less Academic.
- Who you are as a person.
- You want a job.
- Talking directly to a person.
- Say what you can offer about the business and not about you...
- Who you sending it to...
- What the business is looking for.
- What the company is about.
- Dear Mr/Mrs...
- Who you are and why you are applying.
- What you can do for them...
- Explain above in greater detail.
- Direct references to experiences and skills.
- Computer programming skill's etc...
- context to link into CV.
- Explaining who i can contribute and giving specific examples.
Conclusion of letter...
- conclude with availability for an interview.
- CV attached .
- Paid or UN-paid internship.
- Thank for time and consideration for reading the letter.
- A sentence of re-affirming a key-word in your cover letter to sum it up... (Kinda like a essay.)
ACTIVITY
- 3 different cover letters and 3 different CV's for 3 different positions...
- Hand in by Friday 2nd of August 2018...
How to get a professional LinkedIn setup?
- Good Profile picture, look professional and not either drunk partying.
- Good lighting in profile picture and not cake faced...
- Don't look like a student.
- Skill's.
- Awards and achievement's.
- Education and Qualification's.
- Work ethic and experience.
- A good statement about what you're interest's are...
- Posting have to be professional.
- Have to be connected to a professional email address nothing silly.
- Career interest's.
- Volunteer work.
- Help create and expand on your networking.
